The Context

Obsessively curated, unapologetically commercial

Basic.Space debuted its IRL to URL New York shopping experience, bringing its obsessively curated and unapologetically commercial platform to life downtown from November 14 to 16, 2025. As a private, invitation only destination for smart and personalized shopping, the event hosted exclusive design, art and fashion pieces curated in collaboration with leading creative talent. MATTE was engaged as the creative and production partner to translate the digital marketplace into a seamless physical environment capable of driving onsite sales, online conversion and cultural impact.

The Approach

Immersive Culture Meets Seamless Conversion

MATTE designed and produced the full IRL experience across the second floor of 575 Broadway, shaping a refined flow of curation, commerce and culture that reflected the Basic.Space ethos. The environment served as a physical expression of the platform’s luxury marketplace, with elevated touchpoints, thoughtful spatial composition and an editorial sensibility that connected discovery with transaction.

As an extension of the experience, MATTE partnered with Future Archives to debut the first in its “Feels Like MATTE” series with the MATTE Executive Office, a bespoke ‘90s label-executive–inspired booth anchored by rare design objects sourced from Mantiques Modern, Future Archives, NJ Roseti, Caleb Ferris, and Lucas Hoffman. The space functioned as a living mood board, an imagined archive of textures, power symbols, and cultural touchstones positioning MATTE as both builder and storyteller within the larger activation.

The Outcome

An Elevated Standard for IRL-to-URL

The New York activation delivered a high energy three day private shopping experience that mirrored the success of Basic.Space’s inaugural Los Angeles tentpole, drawing strong attendance, sustained engagement and sales both onsite and online. The design and production established a clear visual and spatial language for future IRL to URL moments while the MATTE Executive Office emerged as a standout expression of the MATTE brand’s cultural positioning.
